While the older students are working hard on their first PACER endurance running test the kindergarteners ran their first relay race!
They collected Fall “P.E. candy”, sorted the colors with their team, and we decided which team at the most of each color.

Fifth graders have started their fiction writing unit and have enjoyed writing spooky October stories by candlelight.

103 is created camouflage models. Students used a white piece of paper and had to add color and details to camouflage the paper into the photo. This demonstrates how animals and other living things camouflage themselves to survive and hide from predators.

Students from 2nd and 3rd grade created tableaus in drama to learn about visualization, understanding key details in stories or text, and summarizing; all of which are part of their English Language Arts standards.

EFA+ students ran the Fun Run this week!
Thank you to everyone who donated and supported our students!

5th graders read their published pieces from the Author’s Chair for their classmates to enjoy. We have some future humor writers in our midst….

USF Puppetry students came to perform a Social Emotional Learning Puppet Show for Kindergarteners 💜

In Dance class, students used creative movement to make their own version of Rock, Paper, Scissor!
🪨🗞️✂️

Students in 102 used clay and other manipulatives to demonstrate how animals use their structures (spines, shells, spikes, etc.) to protect themselves from predators!

In Dance, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students read The Rainbow Fish.
Then they created a dance with a beginning, middle, and end based on the story.
They focused on how costumes, lighting, and music can help demonstrate key details like characters, and the setting.

The 5th graders have been working hard on "Paint the Plow".
Let's hope the plow won't be needed any time soon and will just be a unique piece of art. 🙂

Happy Friday!
May your weekend be as joy-filled as our kindergarten friends experiencing the parachute for the first time in P.E.

Teach. Learn. Grow. These are key words that reflect the SFSD theme for 2023-24: Cultivate. This morning students at Eugene Field A+ Elementary spent some time learning (and digging!) with Iron Fox Farm, an urban farm near the school. Thank you, Iron Fox Farm, for tending to the soil, while also nourishing the minds of these future leaders!

Last Friday the PTA hosted the EFA+ Fall Festival!
It was a fun night filled with food, games, a book fair, and more.

Today was Picture Day! Smiles were ready!

Today we had our first MI Exchange!
Students met with their MI Family and created Artist Trading Cards inspired by their favorite Smarts.
MI Exchange is a time when students meet in mixed grade level groups to make connections with students and teachers they may not regularly interact with.
